Costumes for concert

If you need material for your child’s costume please see me as we have some spare. The children sang their song for the concert recording and it sounds wonderful. Stay tuned for more information about concert details.

Thank you for returning the grey student data records.

The children have all finished their time lines now and having our baby visitors really helped this process. Please come into the class to see them.

Important news for Room 03

We have had many discussions this week about our interesting leaves. We have talked about their features and compared them. Next week’s sharing is your oldest toy.

Our personal time lines are making progress and will be ready to display next week. We’ve had to think about what we could do when we were a baby, toddler and now as a school kid.

We have had 2 babies visit our class recently and this has been a wonderful opportunity for our inquiry. We could see the different things that a baby at 5 weeks old and a baby at 6 months old can and can’t do. Baby L came and visited us and literally slept like a baby the whole time. His Mum was very patient and could answer all our questions.

I have had some questions about our costumes regarding animal print. Any print such as leopard, cheetah, lion, tiger and zebra is fine. Please see me if you would like help with ideas.

We are having a class party on Wednesday 14th December at 12noon in the school park. Before the party the class would like to share with you some songs and yoga that we have been learning, the performance will start at 11:30am and be in the classroom. Can boys bring a plate of savoury food to share and girls bring a plate of sweets !

Come and check out our bird display which has been inspired by nature play.

Nursery Rhyme Fun

The children have really enjoyed sharing their favourite nursery rhymes this week, so much so that we will continue to read them over the next couple of weeks.

Next week’s sharing is ‘an interesting leaf ‘.

Nature play starts on Monday and continues for the whole week.

Japanese day is on Monday. A performance and activities are planned for the day.

Enjoy your weekend

Karen

week 4

This week we have started to revisit our sound blends such as ou, ar & er.

The class did a super polished dance performance for their families in the hall. They were so focused it was amazing !

How is everyone coming along with their end of year concert costumes ? see previous blog if you need help with ideas.

We are no longer required to host a 2nd assembly so we will perform our items to you in the classroom before our class end of year celebration/picnic. (date to be advised)

Learning about capacity has all kinds of problems ! the children tried to put containers in order of which holds the most to the least. Lots of discussions took place about reasons why a container held the most or least ‘it’s wider’ but ‘it’s taller’.

Community time is now taking shape. I have posted some photos of examples of the learning that is taking place.

week 3

The school has a specialist maths teacher called Tamra and she is working in Rooms 03 & 04 for 2 lessons per week. This week we have continued our exploration of capacity. We are using informal units (spoons, cups, bowls) as tools to measure and solve interesting problems.

The children have been particularly keen to learn about ‘bush tucker’ in Community time. Some children were role playing digging for honey ants and witchety grubs in nature play.

Term 4 News

Room 03 and 04 End of Year Concert

At the end of this term the children will be taking part in our end of year school concert. It is a whole school concert which is held in Thursday evening on 8th Dec and all families are welcome to come.

Our class song is “The bare necessities” from the Jungle book.

The costume we are asking the children to wear on the night will be Jungle animal theme print for example: leopard, cheetah or tiger. We don’t want onesies or animals of any kind, just the animal print like the examples below.8089ba7d-b583-47d7-9140-445f7d02eb61Click here to watch The Bare Necessities

The Bare Necessities

Look for the bare necessities

The simple bare necessities

Forget about your worries and your strife

I mean the bare necessities

Old Mother Nature’s recipes

That brings the bare necessities of life

Wherever I wander, wherever I roam

I couldn’t be fonder of my big home

The bees are buzzin’ in the tree to make some honey just for me

When you look under the rocks and plants and take a glance at the fancy ants

Then maybe try a few                    (15 counts)

The bare necessities of life will come to you

They’ll come to you!

Look for the bare necessities

The simple bare necessities

Forget about your worries and your strife

I mean the bare necessities

That’s why a bear can rest at ease

With just the bare necessities of life

Now when you pick a pawpaw Or a prickly pear

And you prick a raw paw Next time beware

Don’t pick the prickly pear by the paw

When you pick a pear Try to use the claw

But you don’t need to use the claw when you pick a pear of the big pawpaw

Have I given you a clue ?               (15 counts)

The bare necessities of life will come to you

They’ll come to you!

(Instrumental                    32  Counts)
